The South Texas Chess Center was organized to train and support the Scholastic
and adult players of the Coastal Bend. Our Goal is to provide quality Training,
Equipment and Support to Chess Players of all ages and abilities. We have
supported Chess programs around South Texas and the Coastal Bend with
Equipment and Training.

We provide one on one lessons with Quality certified Chess Coaches. We are the
only Chess Training Center in Corpus Christi qualified to use the Curriculum
Designed by Chess Grandmaster Susan Polgar.  GM Polgar has certified and
endorsed our Chess Training Program.

Our Chess Training methods have developed some of the best local players. Our
players have played at chess tournaments around the country and have been
invited to play at Exclusive chess events around the country and state. Our
approach to training all players and not excluding anyone has allowed us to
continue our goal of placing a chess piece in every child's hand.

In Addition, we have been the chess equipment vendor for every major tournament
in Texas for the last four years. Our quality of service, Equipment and Honesty has
earned us the privilege to serve the Chess Community in Texas

July Rating Supplement.  Ages for entry and prizes as of 1/1/2010.

Prizes: U21:  $500+entry to 2011 US Junior Closed - $250-$125-$75-$50.
           Individual plaques to top three overall, plaques for best player age 18, 17, 16, 15, Under 15.  
           U15:  Individual trophies to top five overall, trophies for best player age 14, 13, 12, 11, Under 11.  
           U11:  Individual trophies to top five overall, trophies to best player age 9, 8, 7, Under 7.  
             U8:  Individual trophies to top five overall, best player 6 & Under; honorable mention trophies for all others
           Commemorative medals for all participants.
Teams:  Trophies to top three school teams and top club team in each of the four sections.  Top four scores, minimum of
            three, count towards team score in each section.
Byes:  One half-point bye, any round except Rd 6, if requested before Rd 1.

First round starts at 2:30 p.m.  
Players with a USCF rating of 400 and
     over MUST play in the rated division.
Unrated division available for those who
     do not have a USCF membership and
     those with a rating under 400.
Medal to top individual in groups of 4 or 5
     players, top 2 in groups of 6 – 8.
Trophy to top family.  Top 3 family
     members will count towards family
     score.  Family is defined as immediate
     family only:  Parents and children,
     siblings.
•Players must bring their own chess sets,
     clocks, pencils, notation sheets.
•Snacks will be available for sale.
